For individuals and organisations travelling to countries where there is a medium to high level security risk, we offer a one and two-day modular Hostile Environment Awareness Training course (HEAT) that includes the subjects below. This course provides peace of mind for the traveller and their family, the sending organisation, plus protects against potential litigation and reputational damage. The course is of value to those going on short-term mission trips or intending to serve long-term overseas.
Personal Safety Foundation including when on foot, in a vehicle or residence/hotel
Advise on useful and inexpensive safety equipment to bring with you
Situation awareness and spotting hostile watchers
Self-defence and breakaway techniques
Tactical driving and parking
Negotiating Vehicle Checkpoints safely
Dealing with a Road Traffic Collision and Safe Casualty Extraction
Ballistic Awareness demonstrating what is cover from Gunfire and cover from View
Surviving a Grenade attack or thrown Improvised Explosive Device
Surviving an Active shooter, Stabber or Suicide Attack
Dealing with official detention by government forces
Dealing with questioning and interrogation
Kidnap prevention and survival covering release, rescue and escape
The courses involve classroom, PPT, videos, demonstrations, role-play and outdoor exercises. Delegates have the option to attend the first day or both days depending on their needs.
To attend the first day the cost will be £200 (Sterling) and to attend both days £300.
If you have no medical skills we suggest an additional one-day of First Aid training, creating a Hostile Environment and First Aid Training (HEFAT) course.
During the third day we cover the following subjects:
Primary and Secondary Survey
Safe Airway Position
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Dealing with Stabbing and Gunshot Wounds and Blast Injuries
Bandaging and the use of haemostatic agents
Use of a Tourniquets and Chest Seals
Improvised carries and drags of injured persons
The contents of a First Aid kit
We provide Resusci Annes, practice bandages, tourniquets, fake blood and wounds to make the training realistic. For those who just wish to attend the one day First Aid course the cost will be £150.
The cost for the full three-day HEFAT course is £400
Included within the price is the use of all instructional equipment, lunch, coffee, tea and biscuits. Delegates will receive a Certificate of attendance listing the subjects they covered. The training venue is in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland, 15 miles from Belfast. We can provide a list of suitable guesthouses and hotels nearby. If delegates are flying from outside Northern Ireland, the closest airport is Belfast City George Best. Easyjet flights land in Belfast International.
